What Is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction where intended parents work with a gestational surrogate who will carry and care for their baby(ies) until birth. Intended parents use surrogacy to start or grow their families when they can't do so on their own.

Success and Passion You Can Count On

As the only full-service surrogacy agency, our internal team of finance, mental health, and insurance specialists offer coordinated and comprehensive support without the risk of low-quality third-party services.

What is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction where intended parents work with a gestational surrogate who will carry and care for their baby(ies) until birth. Intended parents use surrogacy to start or grow their families when they can't do so on their own.

By definition, surrogacy is the process or arrangement of someone giving birth for someone else. Gestational surrogacy helps those who are unable to have children become parents.

How Does Surrogacy Work?

Surrogacy is a process that requires medical and legal expertise, as well as a strong support process throughout the journey. Those who explore surrogacy to have a child are often referred to as Intended Parents (IPs).

Through IVF, embryos are created in a lab at a fertility clinic. Sometimes the intended parents use their own genetic material. Sometimes, an egg donor is required. At the fertility clinic, an embryo is implanted into a gestational carrier, who carries the baby(ies) to term.

Who Uses Surrogacy to Build Their Families?

Surrogacy allows couples and individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ages and sexual orientations to build their families.

Intended parents who use surrogacy include:

  • Intended mothers who are unable to carry a child

  • Intended parents who have a genetic defect or health condition they don't want to pass onto the child

Each surrogacy journey is unique, and we are proud to have helped grow so many amazing families in the United States and around the world.

How Much Does a Surrogacy Journey Cost?

Surrogacy costs are based on a variety of factors but typically include agency and legal fees, screening costs, your surrogate’s expenses, and insurance.

Circle created the Journey Protection Guarantee Program, with a fixed price of $189,500, to give intended parents the freedom to focus on building their families without financial stress and uncertainty. This all-inclusive program ensures a predictable and secure surrogacy journey.

How We're Different

Our people and our programs make the difference.

We understand—firsthand, for many of us—that bringing a baby into the world through surrogacy is an exceptionally special, and complex, journey. That’s why our team includes mental health professionals and lawyers, intake associates and accountants, program managers and coordinators, all working across specialized teams to help parents and surrogates navigate all aspects of the journey together.

More than that, as a leading agency made up of parents, former surrogates and egg donors, our personal expertise gives us the insight to create a variety of programs to fit the needs of as many families as possible, complete with unlimited matching, experience with diverse communities and long-term support plans.

Our Surrogate Matching Process

Our experienced team carefully hand selects intended parents and surrogates whom we believe will make the greatest impact on each other’s lives. These meaningful matches are made using our proprietary MatchMade™ approach to ensure a healthy and genuine relationship with your surrogate.

Our matching specialists have successfully matched over 3,600 sets of parents. We will recommend the right match by balancing the below criteria:

Personality

Preferences on the level of communication, number of embryos to transfer and views on termination

Legal and location information

Once a match is mutually agreed upon by all parties, Circle encourages intended parents and surrogates to be open to sharing themselves with each other to strengthen their bond throughout their journey together…and beyond.
