International Parenting

Gestational surrogacy is an incredible family-building option that has helped many couples become parents when they otherwise could not. However, surrogacy is prohibited in many countries around the world, such as France and Switzerland. Other countries face restrictions, including China, Sweden, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and The Netherlands. As a result, intended parents throughout the world turn to the United States for surrogacy and egg donation.

U.S. Surrogacy

The United States is widely considered to be the preferable country for surrogacy. We've worked with intended parents from over 73 countries including Australia, China, New Zealand, France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, and beyond. International parents prefer the United States due to its favorable legal, societal and medical conditions. 45 of 50 U.S. states permit compensated surrogacy. The United States also offers a supportive environment for surrogates and intended parents.

Having children through U.S. surrogacy can be relatively easy for international intended parents. It is only necessary to come to the United States 2 to 3 times—for the clinic visit and birth (both are required). Parents choose to visit at other times. We suggest visiting for the transfer and the 20-week ultrasound.

Returning Home

We have a 100 percent success rate of bringing Intended Parents and their baby, or babies, home safely with parentage rights. In certain cases, there is additionally legal work to be done upon returning home. We will help to advise you and connect you with legal counsel. Our legal team is a resource for you to ensure your parentage.

Global Efforts

Departures from the United States are easy, as well. All children born in the United States are automatically U.S. citizens. Therefore, most international intended parents return to their country within 2-4 weeks of their children’s discharge from the hospital with the birth certificate and U.S. passports. They can also obtain passports from their home country while in the U.S. or upon return. Depending on legal work, you may be able to go home sooner.
